As a book blogger, I can’t sit here and tell you that every book is good and amazing. You all know how truthful I am when it comes to reviews as well. But sometimes, I can’t even bring myself to finish the book itself. So I have created a list of books that I had to throw in the towel on and my reasons why.
Splintered
The synopsis of this story was amazing. Someone who can talk to bugs and plants? Okay, sign me up! But, somewhere this book took a sharp left turn to “What is going on?” A big Oh No for my was the Alice In Wonderland theme. I’m sorry to say that I hate that book and story so much. It’s so overused I’m just tired of seeing it everywhere. So I was already turned off from this book, but then the plot totally changed to some weird romance book? I just had to stop reading for my own sanity.
And The Trees Crept In
I found this book so unorganized. The effects that the author was trying to portray just succeeded in making me so angry at it. Not only that but the characters were so random and THE MORSE CODE PART. I’m sorry, I quit right after that so I don’t remember too much from that point.
Caraval
I don’t even want to get started on this book. This book I did finish, although it was torture the whole time. From the constant scene changes, to a boy who is introduced right off the bat and somehow ties into the whole plot, this book was just not good. I was also increasingly mad at the end cause the author kept “revealing things” and then scarlet somehow saved her sister using the very love she lacked literally a chapter before???? That’s where I will leave this summary.
A Court of Mist and Fury
I have had this book on my Kindle app for two months now and I just can’t bring myself to start reading it again. I hated the first book and finally forced myself to read this one. The story is great, don’t get me wrong. I just put so much time and effort into reading it that when I saw I had only made it 50% of the way through the book I just straight up stopped reading. Perhaps, I will pick it up again when I don’t have so many other books to read.
And that’s all folks! Just four books that I can think of and the reasoning. If a book is not working out, don’t be afraid to put it down. Some books just aren’t to your liking. Catch y’all on the next page!

I also did not finish Splintered last year. I really wanted to give it a chance but the same as you, I didn’t know what was going on.

I liked Caraval and ACOMAF but I’m glad you give your honest opinion on these books! I generally don’t review books that I DNF so this kind of post may actually be a good idea to explain which books I DNF and why.

I have only read one of these(Caraval), but I finished it. I don’t know whether I will get the sequel read though. It is just as convoluted, emotion-wise, and twisty in its plot as Caraval.
Loved your post with your explanation as to why you didn’t finish them. ~nan

I really hope you give ACOMAF another go. The storyline in the first book is not the storyline the continued throughout the series. Personally, I remember taking a long time to read ACOMAF but I am so glad I pushed through. It is now one of my favorite books.
