[BOOK REVIEW] Blood Will Tell

Note: You do not need to read the book before this! It seems like the characters were introduced previously but they held up just fine on their own in this book.

Nick is a young Search and Rescue Volunteer. When an incident happens close to his home, things suddenly spiral out of control for Nick. A DNA test is read wrong and Nick is found at the other end. Together with his other Search and Rescue friends, they will try to piece together a murder on their own. Will they figure it out in time?

Oh No’s

So, first of all, I did not know this was the sequel to a previous book. I had simply grabbed the book, read the back, and went on my merry way. I hate when books don’t include a number or a reference to the previous title or book. Luckily, this does need impede the book in any way.

Ruby seems to be on the Autism spectrum, which is absolutely great representation without specifically needing to say it. The only problem I had was the constant pointing out of things she does wrong or differently.  The author would say Ruby did something and the other characters would always ask what is wrong with her. I loved Ruby’s character and reactions to these constant comments though. She would always take it well and was a great inclusion.

Yay’s

The Search and Rescue aspect of this book is amazing. To clarify, this book series is meant to teach those more about Search and Rescue teams as well as rules and drills that they follow. It’s an occupation I’ve never had the privilege to read about and I thought that this was great.

The build up for this book was amazing and Nick’s character felt so well thought out. He stayed true to who he is throughout the book and it was great to follow along with his thoughts. Even when there was borderline police brutality, he still kept to his guns.

I thoroughly recommend this book if you are looking for a quick mystery novel. The characters were great and I really enjoyed the characters honesty with each other. I bought this book with a deal on Amazon so keep a lookout for that again in the future!
