Now presenting: The January Owlcrate box!
Theme: Magical Artifacts
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Owlcrate is a monthly subscriptions box that runs for around $35 a month. Each month is a different theme and comes with a signed hardcover in every box. This month’s box was very unique but did have a solid theme. You will always get your money’s worth in my opinion it’s just a matter of what tastes you have. Now, on to the unboxing!
The first item I saw in this box was a box! This gorgeous white jewelry box contained a gold bracelet of a branch(antlers). This is supposedly themed for Shadow and Bone but I’m taking it to be more Throne of Glass themed. Muahaha.
We finally received the first of these gorgeous enamel pins. Those one is to be paired with the book of the month. The quote on the pin says, “Wolves were everywhere.”
The next couple items are great quality but more of a filler. The first is a makeup bag. The print looks a little weird and disorderly but it is great quality. It contains two quotes inspired by A Darker Shade of Magic. I have never read this book so unfortunately, the quotes are lost on me.
We then have a wooden sword– Sting. From The Hobbit. Bilbo Baggins has this sword sketched with the ancient language. We are to use this sword as a letter opener but I will find a better use someday.
The next item was Harry Potter socks. Now I feel these were only included because they must be super cheap at this point to buy. Also, You can never have too many Deathly Hallow socks. Perhaps I can re-gift them. I don’t like wearing my long socks and I definitely have enough of them.
Now, when I pulled out this large… handkerchief? I was perplexed but the saw the Polar Bear and knew it must be The Golden Compass. I loved this book and the quote is very inspiring. I have no idea what I’m going to do with this wall tapestry but maybe I will hang it on my wall somewhere. If my husband lets me.
The final item is also based on this month’s book. It is a silver luggage tag. Now, I am in need for a luggage tag so this comes to me at a perfect time. It’s also a really pretty silver with some sort of symbol being etched on one side and your information going on the other.
Finally, we come upon the book of the month, The Gilded Wolves. This Owlcrate exclusive features the gates enshrouded in Silver rather than Gold. I love them in the silver so I am very happy with this cover. The story synopsis is very wordy and I’ve been told that the book is as well. But in short, this story is about six characters who come together and performs heists in Paris. It is very history driven so I will dive into this when I’m ready to learn a thing or two.
Altogether, this was great box. The items are all top quality and were themed. Although, I’m more looking forward to next month’s box: Whimsical Beasts.
