This is the second novel in a trilogy. If you haven’t read the first and care about that, do not venture forth!

So, I finally got into this series. I read the entire first book a while back but I just could not get into it. I hated the love and romace. To be honest, I hated Rhysand and I couldn’t stand knowing the second book (this one) was about him. ish. But, someone brought to my attention that the first book is a Beauty and the Beast remake. Now knowing this, I went into this book with a fresh mind (and a year of other books separating my thoughts).

I must say that the entire intro and summary change were done so beautifully that I felt like this was an entirely different book from the first. That being said this book really did not meet my expectations. The only reasons why I will continue on to the next novel is because of the characters and that ending.

This story revolves around Feyre and how she is adusting to life as not only a high fae but as Tamlin’s soon-to-be bride. She tries to come to terms with everything in the first book and to be honest you don’t miss much of you didn’t read it. Because of the deal with Rhysand, Feyre has to deal with him more than she wanted. Things change quickly and we begin a new less action packed story.

Oh No’s

This book is a thick read. It took all I had to reach 50% and I had to put a stop on so I could get other books read. The level of detail and how much actually happens in this book is crazy. The fact that so much has happened and I was only half way through the book put me off so much. I stopped reading this book for a whole year then binge read it in two days just to get rid of it.

Yay’s

I loved the beginning to full story transition. We are introduced to Feyre as we knew her in the first book but when Rhysand shows up we are thrown into a totally different plot than we saw before. As stated, I extremely disliked the first book and Rhysand’s character as well. This book had me grow to like him only a little more but enough to enjoy the book.

Also, yes. I went to Barnes and Noble and took a pic of this book. I bought it on kindle but prefer taking pictures of the actual books as opposed to just posting the cover. I bought the third book on kindle as well since it is on sale for two dollars and I am a sucker for deals.

Finally,

This book was not what I expected. The characters and ending really through me for a loop and made me enjoy it. Loved their interactions but them just living their lives and having sex and flirting every two seconds was not anything I cared about. Unfortunately, the book ended with a cliffhanger that really grabbed my attention so I will force myself to continue.

  1. I have yet to read any of her books, but I really really want to! Just a matter of just going and getting/checking out a book! I’ll be waiting to see if I don’t do aggressive eye rolling with all the flirting though when I get to this one!

    1. I really recommend her Throne of Glass series. It is my favorite of all time. The first book is a little corny but that was just to grab people’s attention but after that holy moly you get taken on a roller coaster. I didnt get that feeling with this series though
