But what happens when one of those reds has powers like a silver?
This was a great read and it really had a lot of twists and turns. I very much enjoyed it but do aware that this is book one in a series so you will not have an ending, you must continue. Luckily, I have the next book in my possession and will be reading that soon (someday).
Oh No’s
The twist at the end was extremely predictable. I called it at the very beginning but I hoped that it wasn’t true. It also felt kind of muddled to me. But, I will accept this end and continue reading on because I do enjoy the overall story and want to see how it will one day end.
I’m still confused about the queen being the cousin of Julian and somehow he is the uncle of Cal who’s mother died. Yeah. Exactly. If someone could draw out a family tree for me that would be awesome because this just confused me every time it was mentioned and re-defined.
Yay’s
I didn’t read the back of the book so everything that happened aside from the different blood all came as a surprise to me and I thoughtfully loved the plot of this novel. Learning everything about this novel was in itself an adventure and I really enjoyed Victoria’s writing style.
This was also a very fast read. I finished it in two days but that was with multiple breaks. I also tend to do these 20 minute ‘reading sprints’ that Owlcrate shares in their stories. But when the 20 minutes it over I just keep reading and end up finishing the novel lol oops. But this book is a quick read so if you are looking for a short YA novel to dive in to look no further.
Finally,
In all, I very much enjoyed this novel but not the ending. I have the next book, Glass Sword, and will be reading in some day.
This novel is very similar to Mirage by Somaiya Daud

He crashes to the floor, probably hurting the floor more than himself, and rolls to a stop at my feet.”

I’ve been curious about this one but they don’t have it at the library and I’m trying so hard to NOT buy another series {but who am I kidding I’ll totally buy it at the end of the day, eventually}
