Title: Glass Sword (Red Queen #2)
Author: Victoria Aveyard
Pages: 444
Genre: Action & Adventure, Romance
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
This is the second book to the Red Queen series.
I loved being able to dive back into a book without having to learn about new characters and worlds. This world is one I am very familiar with where there are those with red blood and those with silver. We follow Mare Barrow after the events in the first book. Mare is now making it her goal to find others who are like her. But, she will face many obstacles in her way.
Oh No’s
Spoiler Alert: There is no glass sword!??? Unless I blatantly missed it being mentioned, there were no swords ever described and no glass to be seen.
This book really dragged on with the amount of times they were caught and the somehow escaped. At the end I just wanted them to get caught already just to end the damn thing. Of course most of the middle is just buildup since it is just one giant game of cat and mouse.
Yay’s
This is still a great series. Even though it was quite repetative, I really enjoyed our characters and their drama. I’m not sure why I’m enjoying it so much but I was able to read this book pretty fast. I feel this is the most filler book I’ve ever read (worse than Tower of Dawn) but for some reason I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
Finally,
This is a great series. I’m really enjoying learning more about the people in this world as well as the twists and turns we see. The one thing pushing me to read more of this series is the blatant declaration of Mare being Red Queen and I intend to complete this journey.
My similar recommendation for this book would be Seraphina by Rachel Hartman. Both are about someone with the powers of two different beings and their goal to find others like them.
