[Book Review] Zenith

Title: Zenith
Author: Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings
Pages: 534
Genre: Space, Romance, Action & Adventure
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

This is one of the few books with a solid 3 rating on Goodreads but so far I am loving this book. Five girls making a crime fighting space team? Sounds kind of awesome.

Well, it is awesome. From start to finish, this book held up it’s mystery and kept me wanting more. Yes, there are a few slow parts but every book needs places to put all this world building! I loved our main girl Androma Racella and her ragtag crew of strong women. As they fly across space, they run into an old ex-boyfriend and get pulled into a mission bigger than anything they could imagine.

Oh No’s

The nicknames were a little annoying with how often they were used. These names did eventually grow on me with each character’s growth. Also, why did Lira have to be shortened to Lir? All I could keep thinking about was Lrr from Omicron Persei 8 (Futurama). Luckily that stopped pretty fast though.

This is written like a movie or even a script. Very direct with flashbacks happening quite often. They become easy to get used to once you get into the speed of things. They drugged Valen but he got up like 10 minutes later and the queen just let him walk around?

Yay’s

I love these five characters. The four girl crew worked together so perfectly and adding Dextro to the mix really mixed things up. All of these characters grew so much, well mostly just our main people but holy moly I loved the detail that went into this novel. The development between everyone’s relationships was really thought out and that ending was crazy!

This is my new guilty pleasure novel. Space, romance, fighting. I’m not sure why this is rated so lowly. I mean compared to Caravel this novel makes sense and is written nicely.

Finally,

This novel is amazing. If you are looking for a space adventure for the books then look no further. This all-woman (and one unwanted individual) crew will win your heart and having you reaching for the sequel, Nexus. This series is officially a duology so there is only one more book to read.

My similar recommendation for the novel would definitely be Zodiac by Romina Russel.
