After the tragic ending of The Gilded Wolves, Roshani Chokshi brings us back to the adventures of Severin and his crew. Although this time, nothing is the same. Each person is still coping in their own way and when Severin finds a clue that might bring back those they have lost, the crew must ban together and solve this mystery.

Oh No’s

That ending ugh. It was such a cliffhanger that you will have no choice but to read(in this case, wait for) the third book. Also, I was not expecting this ending at all and when I saw the acknowledgement page, I was so confused. The end was so sudden, I felt like there were enough pages for more, but there was not.

Yay’s

I never thought I would miss these characters so much! The team of  five really work well together and I love the dynamics between them. This time, we focused on how they each are moving past the ending of the first book. We see their growth and relationships are broken and others are beginning to take shape. I’m actually really happy that we are getting a third book.

Finally,

This book is definitely better than the first. I really enjoyed all of the characters and how they work together to solve each mystery. If you enjoyed the first book then I definitely recommend continuing on in the series.

My similar recommendation for this novel would be Descendants of the Crane by Joan He.
