[Book Review] The Chaos of Standing Still

Title: Chaos of Standing Still
Author: Jessica Brody
Pages: 403
Genre: Romance, Young Adult, Grief
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

After her best friend passes, Ryn can’t bring herself to read that last text message from her best friend. When she gets stuck at the airport for the night she finds more than just friendship in places she never knew she could.

Oh No’s

I feel there were quite a few interactions that didn’t need to happen. I enjoyed the overall story and romance but there was a lot of filler in between in my opinion. I really did enjoy this as it is real time and only so much can happen during a 24 hour period.

Yay’s

Being stuck in an airport overnight has always been a dream of mine as a frequent flyer. But alas it never happened. At least I’m able to live this fantasy through this book.

I really enjoyed this romance and I love how attentive and cute the main boy was. They really had a good dynamic although half the time she ran away from him and all he did was try his darndest to win her over.

Finally,

This book takes place on New Years so this is a really great end of the year read especially with the weather getting as cold and nasty as it does around the holidays. There’s not really much else to say about this book

My similar recommendation for this novel would be Technically, You Started It by Lana Wood Johnson.

Favorite Quote

“‘I like your nails,’ I blurt out, bending forward to try to make out the design painted on each one. ‘Are those snowflakes?’

The woman stops typing and looks up at me. For a brief moment I see her entire demeanor shift, like she’s shedding a layer of clothing. The layer labeled BITCHY CUSTOMER SERVICE REP.”

Pg. 34
