Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
This is the third book of the series. please click here for reviews of Book One: Illuminae and Book Two: Gemina.
We begin the book as all of the books have begun with introducing another pair of characters. Only this time, they are survivors whom no one knew were even alive. And one of them is a Bei-tech officer. The two other pairs we already know and love are making decisions and coming to terms with everything that’s happened. But now it is time to take a stand.
Oh No’s
I now have to reread this entire series knowing what I know now. Also because I really wasn’t into the second book and now I want to be again! Is this an adequate oh no? Who knows!
The end was not satisfying. This whole time we were waiting for Justice only to be given a single chapter on the trial and one (1) AFTER chapter. It just felt off. It was so short that I am left feeling empty. I need more closure than this.
Yay’s
Great conclusion to the series! This is very similar to Kingdom of Ash where all of the characters finally get to meet each other. I loved how they worked together and each story told its tale.
AIDAN was a crazy character that just kept surprising me. I didn’t expect them to still exist after the first book but here they are. And everyone made the same mistake again and again. Also the cat scene omg that made my tear up.
Finally,
This is a really good conclusion to a wonderfully unique series. Written through a series of found documents and transcripts that we find are being shown at the trial for the events that happened. I feel the end end needed to be long but it was still good.
My similar recommendation for this novel would be Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.

Love your reviews of this series, Christine. It is interesting how you have a different perspective on the second book now that you have finished, eh?

It is! And people told me I would too! I think I also took too long in between books 1 and 2

I can see that. You lose some momentum with the story.
