Another standalone novel from the author of Four Dead Queens.

This novel follows Tempest and her fight to find out the truth. Why had her sister lied about her parents death? There was only one problem. Her sister is dead. But on the island of Palindromena, the dead are able to come back to life, but only for 24 hours. When things get a little out of hand, Tempest will find there is a lot more to life than shes ever known before.

Oh No’s

The end just kept going on and on, I felt like it would never end then finally it was like oh okay that’s it? So many ups and downs and honestly it landed on such a down that My face was left frowning the whole time reading the final pages.

Yay’s

This was a very quick read. It took me around two days to get through it because the story was so intriguing. I do have to warn you though, it is a slow beginning you just gotta get into and then its smooth sailing.

Finally,

This was definitely a fun and unique adventure through the world of water. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of it and the description of this post-apocalyptic world.

My similar recommendation for this novel would be House of Salt and Sorrow by Erin A. Craig.

Favorite Quote

“I’d never made friends easily, but down here, the skeletons didn’t have a choice.

I nodded to Adrei. His red and pink calcified skull rested on the cafe counter., his bony hands beside his face as though I’d caught him deep in thought.”

  1. Love your style of review! Also, Kevin and I were wondering how you came up with the name purple manatees? It’s such a unique name we will always remember who you are! 🙂

  2. I’ve seen this book everywhere, it seems to be really interesting and spooky! What was your opinion on House of Salt and Sorrows? I’ve heard good things about it and it being a retelling of the 12 dancing princesses really intrigues me🤔
