[Book Review] Shadow and Bone

Title: Shadow & Bone
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Pages: 356
Genre: Young Adult, Action & Adventure, Romance
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

I am officially entering the Grishaverse.

This is the first book for the shadow & Bone trilogy and I am living. We follow Alina Starkov, an orphan currently working in the army. When she finds out she has powers, her life is turned upside down. She is taken to the Grisha school where other with powers similar to hers go. But no one is as special as she is. But not everything is what it seems.

Oh No’s

Definitely predictable. I knew this going into this series and was honestly looking forward to the predictable main character and evil character. But there were quite as few little twists that I enjoyed and the plot really moves in this book which made it quite bareable.

Yay’s

I really enjoyed Alina and her though process. She is a little dull but I feel she kept the story going with her decisions. I also enjoyed her quick thinking and she was really funny at times. She was very similar to Rielle from Furyborn.

Finally,

This book left me quite entertained there really wasn’t a dull moment and I look forward to diving into the next book.

My similar recommendation for this novel would be Shatter Me by Taherah Mafi.
